Valiant Tigers Downed By Lynx

The Dundee Tigers suffered their 3rd successive defeat on Saturday night as they were downed 3-1 by the Aberdeen Lynx.

It was a threadbare Tigers squad that traveled north with a number of the 14 skaters carrying injuries. Tigers woes were increased as both Marc Leggatt and Scott Geddes were forced to leave the game in the opening session and the Lynx took advantage of he stretched visitors as Iain Malcolm fired home at the back post in the 18th minute. That lead looked like it would carry the hosts in to the break but with just 4 seconds remaining on the clock Callum Turnbull shot on the turn and beat Craig Chalmers in the home net.

The second period saw pleant of action but no scoring as Robbie Balfour for Tigers and Chalmer for the Lynx turned away all opposition.

The Tigers suffered a further blow as Stuart Barnett was sent to the dressingroom having been assessed his second misconduct penalty of the night with 5 minutes gone. A defensive lapse allowed Lynx marksman Ross McIntosh space and he sniped home high past Balfour with 48 minutes played. McIntosh was on target again in the 55th minute as he followed up on his own rebound to sqeeze the puck home and double the home advantage. Tigers continued to press and looked to have brought the deficit back to a single goal with 2 minutes to play but a late whistle on a borderline offside infraction ruled the marker out and took the wind out of the visitors sails.

The Tigers finished the game with just 9 fit skaters and will take great heart from their performance against a team still chasing SNL honours.

Final Score: Lynx 3 - Tigers 1
