Typhoons blown away by Tigers

The Tigers earned two valuable SNL points on Saturday night with a hard fought, 4-1 victory over the Moray Typoons in Elgin. The visitors showed no signs of the dreaded "bus legs" as they asserted dominance from the first drop of the puck. With less than 4 minutes played John Robertson pounced on a juicy rebound to fire the Tigers in to the lead. Tigers continued to press on the small ice pad and were rewarded for their efforts in the 13th minute as Scott Marr picked up the puck and skated with speed in to the Typoons zone, releasing a rocket of a shot in to the back of the net just as he was checked by an opposing defenseman.

The second period lacked the urgency of the first and Tigers keeper, Ciaran "Titch" Hoggan, pulled off a series of miraculous saves to ensure the visitor's advantage was maintained. It took until the final minute of the period for the next goal to come, another for the Tigers, as Scott Marr defected an Eck Purves shot past the confused keeper in the Typhoons net.

Tigers started strongly In the 3rd period but it was the Typhoons who notched the first marker as a determined Scott Ramsay bundled home the puck for the hosts with 5 minutes gone. That was all the motivation the Tigers needed to retake control of the game and Paul Guilcher put the result beyond all doubt as he showed zen-like calm to out-wait the Typhoons goaltender before lofting the puck in to the top of the net with just 6 minutes to go. The game concluded with a little more action but no further scoring and the Tigers picked up their first road win of the SNL campaign.

Final Score: Typoons 1 - Tigers 4

Tigers MOM: Ciaran Hoggan

Tigers scoring: Scott Marr 2+0, John Robertson 1+1, Paul Guilcher 1+1, Dan Topping 0+1, Eck Purves 0+1
