Dundee Tigers 5 - Solway Sharks 3

The Tigers capped off a winning weekend with a hard fought victory over the Solway Sharks which sees them progress to the Semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

From the first drop of the puck it was clear that both teams would be up for the challenge as they exchanged chances early on. The Sharks drew first blood as a deflected point-shot squeezed its way in to the net with just over 8 minutes gone. Kris Phillips got the Tigers back on level terms as he found space in the high slot to fire home with 13 minutes on the clock but the Sharks were back ahead a minute later as Corbett placed one over the shoulder of Matty Michie. With 4 minutes to go in the period Dan Topping fired a rocket of a slapshot home, ringing the ironwork on its way to tie things up and conclude the period scoring.

A Tight 12 minutes of play passed in the 2nd stanza before Tigers took the lead when Eck Purves pounced on a loose puck to smash home in to the roof of the net, but it was even stevens with just 45 second left when Henderson somehow managed to slot home from the tightest of tight angles to set up a nail biter of a closing session.

With 20 minutes remaining to seal their Scottish Cup fate you would forgive the teams for being a little edgy. It was not to be and a free flowing period saw the Tigers penalty kill units tested early. After sustaining a barrage of shots, and back at full Steven Turnbull stepped up and rammed home a fine wraparound for Tigers 4th and what would ultimately end up being the game winning goal with 8 minutes remaining. Richy Fox put the iceing on the cake after a deft saucer pass found him streaking towards the net to fire past the Solway netminder.
