Dundee Tigers 3 - Solway Sharks 1

Tigers roared to their second victory in as many nights with a controlled performance against the Solway Sharks. The opening period got underway quietly with Tigers dominating position without really testing the guest net minder in the Solway goal. Steven Turnbull pounced on a rebound in the 8th minute to give the Tigers a lead that they would never look back on but there was to be no further scoring in the period. The second period took on the air of a training session as the Tigers took full control of play while the Sharks seemed content to absorb the pressure and take their chances on the counter attack. Dan Topping doubled the hosts lead as he finished off some nifty work between himself and line mates Grant Reekie and Paul Guilcher in the 28th. Just 2 minutes later Guilcher grabbed one for himself on the feed from Kris Phillips as the Tigers hit cruise control. Mark Duffy made a game of things as the period came to a close as his deflected shot made its way past Matty Michie with 20 seconds to go on the clock and 2 Tigers sitting in the penalty box. The Sharks could smell blood in the third and started strongly. They failed to capitalise on an early power play opportunity though and Tigers were soon back controlling proceedings. A solid defensive performance from both teams ensured a goalless final session and the Tigers completed their weekend celebrating a well earned 4 points. Final score: Tigers 3 - Sharks 1 Tigers mom: Matty Michie
