Moray Typhoons 3 - Dundee Tigers 6

The Tigers recorded a solid road victory against a determined Moray Typhoons on Saturday night in Elgin and continued their run of good form in the League. Tigers dominated early proceedings and tested Johnston in the Moray net with wave after wave of attack. It was the hosts who broke the deadlock however as Chris Wright fired home with 2 Tigers players in the penalty box with 13 minutes gone. The score was levelled with 2 minutes remaining as Scott Marr found the net with a tight angle effort to end the period scoring. The Tigers found their flow in the 2nd period with some fine play and looked threatening from the off. It took until the midway point to for Grant Reekie to give the Tigers the lead as he cut to beat 2 defenders to release a shot that befuddled the Moray netminder to find the back of the net. John Robertson grabbed his first goal since his Tigers return with a long range effort to double the visitors lead before Reekie was on target again, as he broke free from the attentions, and active sticks, of the Moray defenders to backhand in to the net. Reekie's hat trick goal came with 2 minutes left in the period as a sweet interchange with Paul Guilcher created space to allow him to slot home off the near side post and give the Tigers a comfortable 5-1 cushion. The hosts looked to employ some dubious tactics in the final stanza in an attempt to put the Tigers off their flow. They drew a penalty just short of the midway point and Derek Franklin took advantage of the subsequent power play. Tigers added to their tally with 7 minutes remaining though as Mark McLeod was in the right place at the right time to shoot home past the stranded Moray keeper. With just 3 minutes remaining Scott Ogg grabbed a 3rd powerplay marker for then hosts but it was too little, too late as Tigers grabbed a battling 2 points. Hat-trick hero Grant Reekie said of the result, " It was a great win! The guys pulled together as a team and battled hard against a Typhoons squad that was physical and hard working. We matched that and more and came away with a well deserved 2 points" Final score: Moray Typhoons 3 - Dundee Tigers 6 Tigers mom: Grant Reekie
