Solway Sharks 2 - Dundee Tigers 4

The Tigers leapfrogged their opponents in Sunday night's SNL encounter with an impressive come from behind victory in the Dumfries Ice Bowl. Tigers showed no signs of bus legs as they started the first period brightly as the new, larger, IIHF standard end zones allowed extra space for the forwards to play. Steven Turnbull out worked the Sharks defence to bundle home a rebound and give the Tigers a lead as the period passed the mid-way stage. The hosts drew level though with a slick powerplay mark finished off by Stuart Kerr who snuck in to space to blast home. The Sharks went on the attack early in the 2nd. Tigers killed an early penalty before Mark Duffy put the hosts ahead with just over 2 minutes on the clock. Daniel Topping looked to have leveled the game as a deflected shot made it's way in to the Sharks net only to be washed out for a crease infringement. An evenly matched period concluded with the hosts holding on to a goal advantage and Tigers losing John Robertson to injury and Mark McLeod who was assessed a 5 + Game penalty on the buzzer. Despite starting the 3rd period a man down for a guaranteed 5 minute session Tigers dominated the early exchanges. Only 7 seconds after successfully killing the major penalty Graeme Carstairs drove the net and fired home to tie the game at 2 apiece. A minute later and the Tigers were on top as Grant Reekie made his mark on the scoreboard as he left the Sharks guest netminder stranded. Daniel Topping gave the Tigers some breathing room in the 53rd minute as he hit the target with a fine effort and Matthew Michie saved a late Sharks breakaway to ensure the visitors made the long trip back to Dundee with 2 points in the bag. Final score: Sharks 2 - Tigers 4 Tigers MOM : Steven Turnbull
