North Ayrshire Wild 5 - Dundee Tigers 7

The Tigers pocketed 2 league points on Sunday evening with a 7-5 victory over a determined North Ayrshire Wild on the West Coast. Tigers dominated the opening stages of the game but it took until the mid way point of the period for the first goal, Daniel Topping blasting home to finish off a fine move with the Wild a man down. It was 2-0 just 3 minutes later when a Scott Marr shot found its way beyond a a stranded home goal keeper. Stuart Sinclair pounced on a juicy reebound to slot home Tigers 3rd of the evening in the 17th minute to give the visitors a convincing lead. The hosts caught the Tigers napping though and pulled 2 goals back before the end of the period as young-guns Abercrombie and Bain found the target to keep proceedings tight. The second period got underway with Tigers again controlling the play. However a long-range Chris Underwood strike brought the score level just 2 minutes in. A rare 5 on 3 powerplay opportunity for the Tigers in the 33rd minute proved fruitful for the visitors though as 3 goals in a 30 second spell restored the 3 goal advantage, Topping finishing with nifty backhand spinoramma, Scott Geddes firing home from the point and Grant Reekie finding the bottom corner with a well paced wrister. Wild refused to lie down and quickly replied through Dobson before Scott Marr hit the mark for Tigers 7th. As the period drew to a close and with hosts down to 4 skaters Bain took took advantage of some slack defensive play to find space and place a fine shot in to the top corner to set up a tight closing session. Having played a diciplined game until this point the Tigers took a total of 38 minutes of penalties in the 3rd period setting up some tense periods of play. Neither team could find a way past the stubborn netminder at each end though and the Tigers ended the game victors. While this may not have been a classic it is a valuable 2 points as the Tigers look to climb the SNL table. Tigers are back on the road next Sunday as they visit the Solway Sharks on Sunday (FO 5:30pm)
